God knows what we need. My mom, sister and I accidentally met someone who led us to Ashlar’s programs when I was just starting high school more than 5 years ago. At the time, I knew the faith, but I didn’t really understand it. I was also a little insecure and lacked confidence in who I was. As I began to help with catechism at one of our local parishes, I began to build my foundations in the faith alongside the younger girls I taught. It was an opportunity to learn more doctrine, and it happened in a quite natural way. Each week, I looked forward to the spiritual refreshment I received when I attended catechism classes to prepare me for the ones I taught. But I didn’t fully translate what I learned to my everyday life. I needed more. Slowly, in a quite beautiful way, the little mustard seed of faith that was planted began to grow, and it started to show in how I thought and through my actions. I can say now I’m a more confident young woman, secure in myself and my faith. Ashlar’s programs are unique and special. You would need to take part of them to truly understand what I mean. Everyone has a different experience, but given enough time, it transforms you. I’m very grateful for all those who help run Ashlar’s programs, since their work is an overflow of the formation and grace they’ve received.
